My Finished Product

As you can see from the picture above, the dragon has some white bits on it. This is due to the printer not working properly and not printing the ink onto the paper correctly. This limited me when I need I came to printing since I knew it wasn't going to be as good as it could be. However, a lot of resources were available to me during the making of this book. This included Art based resources such as inks, paper, paint and those sorts of things, as well as ICT based resources such a the internet, photoshop, printers etc. I had quite a big time limit in my opinion, and this ment that I could use my time effectively and make it look how I wanted it too and made sure it was to a high standard. It also allowed me to practice and learn new skills such a learning how to use the graphics tablet better, and learning the shortcuts off-by hand. The outcome of this gave the book a more of a rough-look.

In the photos above, I have created a Pop-up book using mainly photoshop. I have learnt a lot about photoshop during the making on the pages and pop-ups. The thing that I found most difficult is that I had to try and find a way to make it look realistic and I hadn't done anything like this before but I managed to make it look good. The way that I overcame this is that I used gradients to make the colours go from one to another, making it look more realistic and less blocky. I also used the blur effect to create darker tones in the composition. I think that using these made it look more realistic and gave it a professional look.

Dummie Pop-up Book Photos

The photographs below show that I have studied the pop-ups that I want to use in my final piece and made them prior to the actual thing.

At the time of production, I have had quite a lot of materials available which was great when it came to making my Pop-up book since I could use whatever I wanted. I didn't really have to adapt my ideas since I knew what I wanted prior to making it and when it came to making it I had all of the materials to do what I wanted. My ideas have come on quite a lot from a early stage since when I originally started my ideas were quite basic but now they're slightly more complicated since I wanted to make a more impressive book.

We were asked to look at a artist which we liked and do an artist copy of it. I saw Daniel Danger in a book from school and I liked the art that he had produced so I wanted to do an artist copy of his work.

This is what I came out with, I was told to only do a selection of the piece since it would've taken a lot longer and it is lot more complicated.

Artist Copy

This is my first artist copy on Adobe Illustrator. I found it hard to duplicate the exact image so I drew inspiration from the Artist.

This artist that I have done a artist copy of has inspired me since I used Adobe Illustrator and with my book I really wanted to make it using Illustrator and Photoshop, however if I wanted to a create a book using photoshop then I'd have up my skills so it looks as good as it can. Although the theme for my book isn't as abstract as this artist, I'll still use software to create the images for my book. I got the ideas to go within the book from video games as well as my imagination.

For my fairy pop-up, I drew some images for inspiration so that when I came to finally make my pop-up book. I'd know what to draw.

However it was based around the fantasy genre so I tried to make sure the images were related to the genre one way or another.

Proposal & Feedback

In the post below, I have written a proposal for my pop-up book explaining what it will include. I shared my ideas with the class and then asked for feedback and wrote the feedback down. However the ideas changed over time.

Fast hand printing

This is a picture of me in the process of making my 3 colour lino print. As you can see in the background, I had already printed some but at the time this picture was taken, I was mixing ink to create my colour.
