Fairy Tale Pattern

For my fairy pop-up, I drew some images for inspiration so that when I came to finally make my pop-up book. I'd know what to draw.

Drawings of Subject Matter

Before I was making my Pop-up book, I drew some subject matter with ink and then scanned them into photoshop and messed about with them digitally. I did this so I had a few ideas what I could include in my pop-up book.

Additional Subject Matter

These images is what I will draw my inspiration from for my Pop-up book. I collected a lot of landscape images since in my Pop-up book I will have to create scenery.

Type Faces

In this post, we were asked to look at type faces for our book and which ones looked best. I looked on the website 'Dafont' and search about for a few typefaces, and chose which one looked best.

Pictures of Subject Matter

In this post, I collated images, ordered them and used Photoshop to present them in a professional way.  got a mixture of images since I wanted to a variety of things in my book. However it was based around the fantasy genre so I tried to make sure the images were related to the genre one way or another.

Proposal & Feedback

In the post below, I have written a proposal for my pop-up book explaining what it will include. I shared my ideas with the class and then asked for feedback and wrote the feedback down. However the ideas changed over time.

Fast hand printing

This is a picture of me in the process of making my 3 colour lino print. As you can see in the background, I had already printed some but at the time this picture was taken, I was mixing ink to create my colour.

Lino

This is a 3 colour lino print that I have created.  I tried to use similar, yet contrasting colour so it was interesting to look at.

Prints

This image above is my end product of me experimenting with inks, stars and every day objects to imprint into the card.

This is my card print, which was my inspiration for my pop-up book. The vials in the print are elavated to create texture.

This was my first card print, it was fun to make although terribly random.

Spyro Photoshop

In this post, I tried to emulate the Spyro logo from the early playstation games. I first drew this on paper and then coloured it and edited it on photoshop.

Character design in Illustrator

This is a screen shot of me working on my Pirate in Adobe Photoshop, as you can see I created a lot of layers so that I would publish something that I was happy with.

New York edit

Originally, I started off with a picture of a street in New York. I then started to edit it in photoshop, importing other images to make it look interesting. But also to add texture to the edit.

Vin Diesel Edit

This is one of my first edits in Photshop, I was doing an artist copy but also wondering what I could do with the software.

Reference Book Photographs

This is my pop up book that I have made. I generally found the book quite hard to make since the pop-ups within the book were quite delicate so it was rather hard to make them. I also found it hard when it came to making the front cover since I had to use watered down PVA glue to stick down the pieces of tissue down, but some of the glue went down the spine of the book which then made it split when I closed it. However I overcame this and strengthened the spine so it didn't crack. Although after making the book, I'd say the benefit of it is that it gives a very DIY esthetic feel.

Building Blocks of Visual Art

In this post, we were asked to complete worksheets which were based on loads of different art techniques. Some of the techniques I used were digital, some were done by hand. I enjoyed doing these worksheets since they were quite fun to do and you had to think how you were going to present the images.

Materials and tools poster

A few safety techniques that I have used during the making of this pop-up book include, carefully walking about with sharp cutting knives, making sure that bags are under the table so you don't trip on them, same with cables around the computers, as well as taking regular breaks from doing work on the computer.

History of Pops

In this post I have presented a powerpoint which was made in Photoshop. On every slide it contains different information although it all related to pop-up books and how they came about. As well as who contributed to making them how they are today.
